Spent the afternoon with my FIL’s widow this afternoon and let me tell you Watson the dog we thought we were going to end up with has become her best friend and has really helped her since Keith’s passing. Don’t completely discount the idea of getting one later in life.

I hunt dove, have a farm and a cousin that has a line of great labs. They hunt and are family dogs too.
We had a brace of labs for 15 years. They would retrieve dove and the rest of the year were the wifes companions around the farm and home.
After the next 3 months when the docs decide if i am going to need a little targeted radiation or not we will get another dog or 2.
She doesn't know this yet but i have a plan.

You know in 5 to 8 years you will end up pulling the tooth anyways.
Every tooth that had a root canal/cap or filling have been pulled leaving only the few undamaged ones in my head.
Dentures are my next expense, at least with them you don't wake up with a toothache.

Good luck with someone else operating the porting tool in your mouth.
