I took a few pics of the local "soil"..
These area is a bit extreme, but there's 2 spots like this on my property and a fairly large sand area in the neighbors woods.
I've dug 5' down and still nothing but sand in this spot.

Have a even aged pine forest and I’m trying to cut out the little bastard balsam fir trees that take over the under brush as they are shade Tolerant. Trying to get some sun on the ground for pine regen
