Climbing is something I'm wanting to start messing around with. Meandered through a few sites the other day trying to figure out a basic equipment and knots list. Are rock climbing harnesses gooder enough to start with if I see one come up for sale used?

Not tryin to run you or your dad down. I reread my posts and they read a little condescending. Not my intention. There's definitely more than one way to go about getting up a tree. Just sharing how I like to do it these days.
Not at all. Learning as I go here.

LOL!
I'm just sharing what we used to do. Ive watched dad free climb into some nasty stuff id never attempt. Lil fella has WAY bigger bawls than I do. Id kinda like to do it the right way if I need to do it, and I appreciate you telling me what you do and dont do.
He's told me about climbing poles bent at a 45 degree angle covered in 1/2" of ice. I know he did it and survived, but the way he told it was that it wasnt the way it shouldve been done. He knew that.
Any insight is greatly appreciated, and will not be taken as law and regulation.

Aaand of course, you sed you liked the pole gaffs, so do you suppose I could get those redone wif some good modern rigging that would make them more safer and less likely to need to be ratchet strapped/duct taped to muh boots if I wanted to use them later?
I would want to learn a bit more about climbing and rope tricks etc first.

You could technically get it done with a Chinesium climbing harness off fleabay, but it would be very uncomfortable.

Bring yo azz up to Kevin's I'm already putting on an srt climbing demo for John the more the merrier. That way you can try before you buy anything.

Have to get out and buy some. Used S100 and meguires soap to wash. And just a quick coat of Lucas slick mist speed wax

Damn, it looks great! Meguiars is what I use soap wise. Pink wash n wax or Gold Class then CG Blazin Banana Spray Wax, Hyper ceramics wax, Jetseal ect.
