Agreed but, I still think forcing him to push a broom is very demoralizing. Make him quit. No unemployment for him .....That kid should be sent packing. The lack of give a damn has no place inside a garage.
When I was at CCTC in the automotive program, there was a guy who left some lug nuts loose, causing the truck to lose the passenger side rear tire. The bedside was ruined, and the driver wound up in the ditch. The truck belonged to the dean of the school's wife.
Number one rule for lug nuts was to use a torque wrench and verify proper torque settings before walking away from the wheel.
The student was escorted off the school property the next morning before the classes got started.
Or, if he stuck with it, maybe a chance back under the hood would be in order down the road. Sometimes all one needs is to learn an unspoken lesson.
