State road hasn't touched our hill to the ridge but the paved road at the bottom
Melted pretty good today.
Supposed to get around 4" tomorrow night
I rode down to the old church at the bottom of the ridge.

Oil pan is off.
Need to unbolt mounts to jack up engine to get pan out due to crossmember location..

And now I have a 2015 1ton dump that the customer whined and cried and now it looks like I'll be doing head gaskets under warranty..

I really think I need a career change.
Maybe hand model or something.

Just curious, does your rate change if warranty, not customer pay?

Whats new fellas?

Seriously considering putting in my 2 weeks soon. I can't ignore the blatant disregard for safety any longer and I can't change company culture by myself.

I'm not an "everything by the book" safety narc but I'm astounded that no one has been seriously hurt up to this point and I want no involvement when it does happen.

While I agree with you, the best time to find another job, is while you still have one. Gives you bargaining power you don't have when you don't have a job. Don't cut off your nose, to spite your face. Find something else first, the give them a big GFY!

It is tough. The pay, the schedule, the commute, the benefits are all pretty good. The work would be fine if some common sense safety measures were in place instead of stupidity and being cheap.

I usually would agree with you but right now everyone is desperate for workers. I drive past 50 help wanted signs on my 15 minute drive home and half of them are in the same line of work. I'm not gonna walk out the door until I look around a bit but its definitely time to move on.

This is true. They love to make up rules and hold safety meetings them not follow them. There is one guy at the root of all of it and a boss who absolutely won't put him in his place. They are worried about wearing masks but nothing about unloading 24' long bundles of schedule 40 pipe that weigh 2000+ lbs each from a semi in 8 inches of snow and ice with a forklift that has tire chains that jump up and down enough to rattle your fillings out.

Sounds like you have been thinking about this. My point is just don't be brash and put yourself in a bad bargaining position. Find a better job and move on. Send something up the corporate pipeline explaining what is really going on. It may help others. At least you will have a clear conscience.

Good luck.
Larry

Edit to unscrew my reply. Sorry

Totally, I definitely understand your point. Its been on my mind a while and it just continues to get worse. I've tried addressing it with the branch manager and it's gone nowhere. The yard foreman is the root of the problem and the manager's unwillingness to confront him exacerbates it.

It's a matter of time before an accident happens and I'm not going to be there when it does. I know corporate isn't aware of what is going on on the ground and it's their own fault for not monitoring things more closely. Now if OSHA saw some of the things that have occurred.... Whoa boy, that place would be locked up and fined into bankruptcy.
