Whats the GM issue with the overhead cams? Just out of curiosity, because I don't recall ever once replacing a camshaft in any of the GM OHC engines.
4L60 wasn't a bad trans. Just needed a bigger cooler and people who wouldn't tow like it's a 1 ton in overdrive.

GM tried to do OHCs and wound up building the fuggin Northstar which was an abomination.

4L60s are ass.

I'm cranky. Lol

When you do as I do you see them. Does not mean they all do it or ever will.

I have seen things for every make and model that would make you never buy a car or truck ever again. :D
Thing with me is this...i get fugged by one of them hard with *s-worde that shouldn't happen like cracked blocks and the cylinder damage / burning oil from the 3.5, I'll just move on. I won't blindly continue to support makers of garbage. From any maker of anything.

The 2v where the plug shooters and it is because people won't tighten the sparkplugs. The early 3v where the broken off plugs. I can repair a blown plug thread in a van in under 45 min. I can do an entire set of 3v plugs in a little over an hour. Even if a few break off. Biggest problem with ford's today is valve springs. Break them all the time in all engines.

Gm doesn't need ohc engines because when you can achieve 110% VE with pushrods, well, that explains it! They just can't build a lifter to save their lives.

The Chrysler transmissions you are referring to have been out of production for over 10 years. They have either diamler or fiat transitions now. Biggest failure now is the multiair engines and the hemi's. The hemi eats camshafts, looses oil pressure, and breaks manifold bolts like it's going out of style. The 3.6 v6 eats camshafts and oil coolers.

Honda can't build an engine to save it's life for the last 10-12 years.

Kia/Hyundai could not build a 2.0 or a 2.4 to last over 90k till last year.

All Toyota vehicles smell like curry?

Subarus just plain suck. Only reason you see them everywhere still is the eccentric owners that dump tons of money on them to save the planet.

Long story short all cars and trucks now are just terrible. Unless you have a new 6.7 ford. Best truck/engine comb hands down.:D

You're correct, I meant 2V. Fat fingers.

Chrysler trans problems are still alive and well (from what I understand) especially in the 8 speeds.

OHV or not, GM is still gay.

We bought a new "hemi" ram in 2004. It was leaking transmission fluid in the first 100 miles. Another Chrysler product I had from new. 97 TJ sport. Hard top. If it rained out water would flow from the heater vents and flood the passenger floor. They had it as long as 10 days "fixing" it. Never did. Also new rear main seal at 2300 miles. I ended up selling that pos to a different dealer because they were having trouble getting the 4.0 TJ and I had a mint one with very low miles.

I've personally never owned a Chrysler product. They make some great looking vehicles but quality isn't their strong suit and I'm not daring enough to gamble with one.

Historically my parents and their parents always owned GMs, I grew up in GMs, and I still own a an old Buick that is a project. I love the GM cars I grew up around, but I just don't like any of their post-bankruptcy "new GM" vehicles. They all look like vomit. More importantly to me, I can't get behind GM as a company. Too many times in recent history they have shafted entire towns and left them for dead in the name of outsourcing. Janesville Wisconsin, Flint, Pontiac and (to a degree) Lansing Michigan, Lordstown Ohio, and Oshawa Ontario come to mind. I'm sure the other manufacturers have instances where they've done the same thing but GM seems to be particularly egregious.

So I've moved on to Ford, at least for trucks. I loved my last F150 and I love my current one too.
