I've got one 10 acre plot that I ran cows on over the winter. It's still a little thin, so I'm gonna wait a few weeks to cut it. Might just do it with the fall cutting. Aside from that, I've got all the first round in the barn.

The drought is so bad here and feed is going to be scarce. They started talking yesterday that cereal crop farmers will likely be better of bailing their stuff and selling it for livestock feed as the grain will be such poor quality.

Record heat and drought in Canada. I never would have imagined this when I was a young man.

Ohio is about to float away so I hope some rains come your way. The river the gf and I like to kayak is normally around 2ft and water moving around 900ft³/s. Right now it's 6ft and moving at 4000+ ft³/s which is cooking and unsafe for us and most people except the highly experienced.

What river are you kayaking in?

I am not doing the Celsius conversions on all these temps but the weather forecasters is 30C (86F) as a milestone in our forecasts. We average 13 days a year over 30, we are at 18 already and are forecast for about 8 in a row coming up. So dry even inside the city there is a fire ban, can't even use charcoal grills, nothing but gas.

There is a river an hour east of us that is very popular with the white water ground, I can't remember what it is normally categorized but we were out there on July 1st and it was so low I could see the silty bottom. Normally nothing but foam in certain spots. Often have a line of people waiting to launch but not a one on the holiday.

Actually I was wrong. In the next 14 days there are only 2 days forecast with highs lower than 86 and they are 84…

Now some of you may be wondering what in the hell is this Jarhead doing assembling a new Weber 26” Premium Kettle in his kitchen, and the answer is actually pretty simple…after several rounds earlier outside fighting them bucktooth SOB’s aka mosquitos, it was time to bring that grill party inside. After two plus weeks of rain damn near every afternoon and/or evening/night at times, these mf’rs will tote your ass off around here.

Anyhoo…
