Yep. Definitely summer here.
Busy at work. Going into the July 4th holiday weekend, which means I'm working a shutdown all weekend and into next week instead of celebrating.
Gearing up for that. Making sure the crew has all the necessary training etc has been a pain.
Top of that, my day started out with a fatal accident on the road in front of our house.
Young man was only 24.
Was told he was hit broadside after running a stop sign. Saw by the accident examiners marks he was actually meeting the bus in the opposite lane. Lost control in the curve and was hit on the passenger side as he skidded across.
Getting old I guess.
Seeing a life cut short that young bothers me more than it used to.
Not sure why. Not like I knew him or anything. Just seems a shame.

That's supposed to bother us. If we have any humanity left.

I heard a story yesterday that teared me up instantly. A house fire. Down syndrome kid to afraid to get out no matter how much mom tried. He was old enough to be stronger than her. They figure she couldn't drag him out. She stayed with him and they burnt up together. The others got out. Gave me the sads.

Beats throwing everything in a pile in the back seat and easy to remove if I needs to haul people instead of gear back there. Although I'm a little worried someone might break in and try to steal that valuable plywood.

We are supposed to care about other humans I don’t know maybe me being from a small town In swla Where people have manners and compassion I don’t get out enough possibly. But there’s a lot of rudeness and hateful ways the internet and media shows a lot of society to have. It really is a shame to see what this world has become. I’m thankful to see when others actually care too.

Wait, so thats not a real truck either? It has a transfer case. Make up your mind. You can buy us an appropriate car if we spent our money wrong there bud. Not everyone needs to tow 10,000 pounds or go play on the Rubicon trail. Hell most "real trucks" never tow anything or see dirt. Who's the dummy in that situation? We pull a small camper and a trailer with our bikes. Guess we should have gotten a dramax 1 ton. Is a 2 wheel drive one ton diesel Chevy a real truck? No tranfer case right? We bought the truck we need, not what the "real truck" crowd thinks we need. Our truck has a payload higher than some 1/2 tons and tows more than we need. Rides and handles better than any "real truck" and gets killer mpg. All that for about the cost of base model 1/2 ton 2wd truck. And, important to us, best reliability in a truck currently.

Am I anti "real truck"? No. Just have no need for what you consider a manly mans truck. I've had full size, mid size and small "real trucks". Many. If I need one for some reason, I'll buy one. I don't need the price penalty, ride quality penalty and mpg penalty to be able to claim "I drive a real truck" Oh and as an FYI, we don't buy fully loaded vehicles. We don't want or need all that bs.

Wow that’s so terrible. My old neighbor lost his wife and daughter in a house fire. Went in after them but couldn’t save them. He was covered in burn scars. Spent the rest of his short life with their screams haunting him while he drank himself to death. I’ve since decided I’d rather have burned with them.
