So. Camaras.

I need something that is either rechargeable, or battery powered. I have no wifi at the barn, so it will need an sd card or something. I'd like no flashing lights or flash....and night vision.

Thoughts?
How far is the barn from wifi? Possibility of a Wifi extender allowing wifi in it? My nephew uses Blink cameras snd I'm considering getting them. Battery powered and wifi if you can make wifi happen

Or some 4x8 sheets of osb filled with several hundred 3.5" nails, face up with little hay strewn over to camouflage them.

What about a wifi extender from the house if the modem is as far as possible to the barn

Too far.

Barn is on the next road over. We're gonna get a phone line put in and install a modem. Seems to make the most sense.

That would be more expensive. Have you seen the price of osb?

I think some trail cams would be exactly what you are looking for although they will only record what happens and not alert you that it is happening.

Some of the WI or MI boys should have some input on brands and reliability.

He would need all $1 Million dollars for that solution...

Tried something this wknd for the first time and I was pretty damn impressed to say the least. Guy down the street bought a Makita 36V (18V x 2) 21" self propelled battery lawn mower and I tried it out Sat evening in his backyard for about 20 mins. I never thought much of the battery platform mowers but I guaran-damn-tee ya this Makita machine will make you think twice. It blew through 6-8" tall grass and at least 12-16" tall bahia like it wasn't even there. He says he can cut his entire yard (front/back/sides), takes him both sets of batteries (two switchable/two each battery banks under the hood, four 5.0 Ah batteries total). Says he gets consistent 90 plus minute run times even with using the self-propel, and I don't doubt it (grass was high this time around because he's been TDY for almost three weeks). Youtube vids on this machine are pretty damn impressive and it's built like a tank. Heavy duty steel deck, etc, etc. A heavy, solid feeling mower in the hands. The model he bought is Makita XML08PT1..comes with mower, rear discharge bag, deck mulching plug, side discharge chute, four 5.0 Ah batteries and dual rapid charger w/fans (charger will fully charge a low/depleted set of 5.0 Ah batteries in about 45-50 min's.)

I'm heavy into the Makita 18V LXT platform anyhow from other brushed/brushless hand tools, screw guns, drills, blowers, etc, etc with fourteen 5.0 Ah batteries, four 4.0 Ah batteries, four dual rapid chargers/two single rapid chargers. This thing's got me thinking. I've got shy of 3/4 of an acre and flat as can be...thing would be perfect for a yard like this or up to 1/1.5 acres easily if you have two/four sets of batteries on standby to rotate through.

I was considering buying one of those before I went with my Honda. It was on sale for $699 with 4 5.0 batteries. I could tell it was a tank just by looking at it, way better than the Ego mowers at Lowes.
