Zinc phosphate?
8-12 hour window or it needs prep.
Super thin is best with one transparent coat.

Outboard rattle can paint baked on 140F for one hour.
Dry heat is best.
Overspray scrapes off with a dull razor.
Sikeens or Glazerette (Sp) pricy on both fronts.

Evenrude or Merc paint imo is easiest.
PPG by far superior product and not over priced junk like the two above mentioned brands. Sprayed them all professionally.

PPG will stand behind their products too. When I was doing paint and body work we had a couple clear coat jobs get hot enough during the curing process to shrink the filler underneath. PPG checked it out, admitted fault, and paid us to redo the job.

My fathers street rod has cracks in the roof from a filler shrinking in the drip rails going across to the roof extension plate above the doors on his sedan. Hard to see but it is there. Could be one of those products on the car. Not sure where he ended up on paint manufacturers before closing up the collision shop.

Then what was the question about paint for exactly?
I use it on boats. I read here on the forum that tractor implement rattle can was a cheap decent alternative to make a saw look decent. ppg epoxy isn’t cheap. I’m not trying to put a lot of money in this saw because it’s just going to be a play saw

Am I not supposed to imply that I know anything about anything? Sorry......I think I’m honest when I’m ignorant of lots of subjects.

I guess I misunderstood. Easy to do when reading along. You asked about paint.....then said you already used PPG products. So I'm like....WTF? :bash:

Us dumb Coonasses are not great communicators sorry boss. I’ve painted boats. Never painted a car. Gotten lots of motorcycle parts and car rims powder coated. Never painted a junk chainsaw before. That’s about all my paint experience

I use the PPG brand myself
I recently used some two-part acrylic urethane paint from Summit Racing with great results. If you want the toughness without the high expense of PPG or Dupont, you might want to check it out. They also have a pretty nice two-part epoxy primer.

No problem Pat. My biggest problem is spitting out whatever is on my mind.

I need a filter....
