Here's a nice knot hole for @USMC615 (duratec this is funny because it looks like a vagina)View attachment 256231
Tipped this pig over last night and the one next to the pond behind it. Wedged the smaller one against the lean. It sucks when they don't have much top weight.

I'm definitely not a fan of heights. Anything over 20ft off the ground and my meat sheets are flapping in the breeze
It's all relative to what your used too. I don't like it go above 15' on a ladder. 100+ feet in a tree no probs. He!! I bet I probably free climbed that with no ropes as a dumbazz kid.

I was standing about where the red circle is when I cut the rest of that stuff on the ground out of the tree. Probably 3ish inch diameter. I don't usually go any higher than that. Every move caused the tree to sway about 5ish feet. Pretty wippy. I was tied into the walnut to the left.
sounds pretty scary. good thing you were tied in

Definitely different than being in a moving tree on hooks, but heres a fun one.
Last fall. Coal stacker tower. Replaced wire ropes that lift and lower the boom.
150' boom lift all the way up in the wind. 256 steps up the stairs to the top, then another 20' scaffold to the upper sheave nest.
Those "Ultraboom" lifts have software that is supposed to keep the basket where you put it. Makes one a little puckery when it moves on its own, especially if youre half way outta the basket.:)

Track bar extension bracket.

Dropped Pittman arm.

Notice how the track bar and control arm are parallel at ride height.

Did you get sway bar extensions?
Toss those track bars. Leaf springs don't need them. It will ride better and perform better off-road. As the suspension travels the track bar forces the springs to move side to side as it moves through its arc of travel.

Nice 500 ton Demag in that pic. I work with cranes that size all the time.

Nice work! I love tipping big trees over!

It sucks when they don't have much top weight.

Try making the face cut deeper.. shift that center of gravity a little more in your favor... this is an extream example but you get the idea. Helps ya spend less time pounding your salami on them wedges...

It does work better off road without those, though it can get the axle and driveshaft bound up when you have them against rocks etc. Sway bar disconnects are more gooder for letting the axle travel too. I kept that one pretty tame, cause it was Bossladys daily driver for several years. Now she drives the JK. Either gonna sell that one or make it more of a play toy.

Thats what I heard. You operate, setup, or service?
I usually do overhead bridge cranes. The stacker tower was a fun project, except for the damn stairs...
@deets66 installs overhead cranes, among other things I heard.

looks fun. Except for the bucket moving part... hardest part of being in a bucket for me is learning to relax and move with the boom whip.

The sway bar disconnect on the TJ made it soooo much better Off-road. Handled like a shopping cart filled with drunken sumo wrestlers on road. One short trip snd I pulled over and hooked them back up.

My dad always cut trees like that. Lol

I don't mind pounding wedges on live trees but these brittle dead ash keep me on muh toes.

Except for that episode, its just like a tree. You move or shift weight, you can expect a certain reaction. Same with a bucket truck or boom lift.
Its not going anywhere, just makes you think so because you arent fully in control of it. I say just enjoy the ride.
