I dont see Stihl selling out to anybody. They have the right business plan. They do have some homeowner models, but they are all sold to DEALERS ONLY. No big box stores, and no short lines/rebrands.
Thats what happened when B&D got their hands on Mac. They thought they could squeeze more money out by making cheap, price point equipment. The quality suffered, and they had lost ground in forestry to Stihl and Husky, again mostly due to trying to cut corners and make a cheaper product.
Robert Mcculloch always focused on having a BETTER product. Mac was the Stihl in this country and others from the late 1940s until the 70s.
I hear theres still some old yellow stuff down your and Todds way too.
Wrong
Stihl sold out to box store's here year's ago bridgeport equipment sells stihl and they sell echo too
and rural king sells stihl
They don't service anything
They really hurt sales of a 40+ year stihl gold dealer a couple miles away.

Yep. A few folks here have the Yellow Fever. In fact a neighbour was gnawing on that same brush pile I picced with some small noisy angry beaver thing just yesterday, when I got home from nightshift...

So why was McCulloch ab(ad?)sorbed? Betterer is usually betterer, if the people's will pay for betterer.

Mmmm, very interesting. It's Stihl Shop TM or nothing in my town, but sold by all sorts in other areas.

Husqvarna is a little more eclectic, but locked up in my town by a long standing Jonsered dealer. Used to be them (Jred Echo Shinny) vs a joint Stihl Husky dealer. Stihl said "make a choice" and Husky changed buildings.

The Stihl dealer needs a whole 18 wheeler of GFYs. Dislike strongly. Schister. Reason I have avoided Stihls, I'm sure the product is fine but he ain't getting any of my overtime vouchers.

LOL!
Eager Beaver was about as bad as the Mac Cats and Wild Cats. Poor fugger. He needs a Power Mac 6. That'll put a smile on his face.
Get an SP40 or go on up to a 10 series, and he might show you a thing or two.

Well thats not good.
I thought Stihl was diehard dealer or nothing. Pretty sure they will regret that.

He's a clever fulla. Master metal and wood worker. He knows a sharp chain is all you need really. Or a neighbour with 10 saws....

That 850 super is a bad azz! Want one of those badly!
Also a nice PM700. That one will run with a 372XP, although they have an overheating problem in hot weather.
Cant beat a 1010 Super for firewooding or light felling/bucking. Great torque for its size. Hard to bog down.
Price probably isnt bad if converted to US$

So you got that goin for ya too.
Wife asked me why I needed more than one saw for a given task.
I repied that they were cheap enough that I could just swap saws instead of stopping to sharpen the chain.
That's completely true. If I hit some dirt or metal with the 1010A, I just grab the 1010S and carry on.
After Pat got me this little badass 350 Hoosky, I'm probably going with it first, then the 1010, then the super etc. There are more. Just have my favorites...:)
