Morning all.

decided to take the family out for breakfast. Not something we normally ever get to do.

I've not got the engine installed yet. Been spending my free time on septic systems and pond dams. LOL

I need to bring the truck over here to pressure wash under the hood and do a few things to the transmission.

But....according to Accel, this coil is supplied with a ballast resistor that has to be installed in addition to any resistor that the ignition system has already. So on my Duraspark system I need to use the factory resistance wire, and a 0.6 ohm ballast resistor.

Good morning Steve. You sent me down a rabbit hole when you sent me that Super Coil. I've got it all figured out now finally. I know why it fried your points now though.....

Naw. It's a great coil. Just requires more resistance than a regular coil.

Wasn't supplied with anything, was supposed to be the bomb for everything.
Then they said it was the bomb for just electronic ignition, buy their other coil for points, which I did. Now this...

Parents made us listen to the Statler Brothers, box car willie, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline and others all the way to Disney world while my dad chain smoked marlboro reds with the windows up the whole way. Still a fan of classic country.

I called their help line. Twas a complete waste of time. I then downloaded the instructions that supposedly came with the coil, and that was where I found out about the resistance issue.

I was trying to be nice, I saved it so someone else could use it.

Twas very nice of you to send me an awesome coil. I just wondered why it fried your points, and dug into finding out.

Oh no you will not. You sent me a 75.00 coil on your dime. I can afford a 5.00 ballast resistor. LOL

My guess is less turns on the primary windings and more on the secondary so they could get the flyback voltage even higher when the magnetic field is collapsed. Do they still make those solid copper plug wires that make any radio go nuts around them?

Pretty much spot on. And yes....those wires are still available.
