Ed, does this retard both cams, increase lobe separation angle and start setting off stuff from cam sensor position readings?

The 2.4's can advance each cam from a 0 degrees up to 30 degrees individually.
Oil comes through a solenoid in the head that's pulse width modulated, then passes into the camshaft which is hollow on the end and into the sprocket/actuator. They also have a mechanical lock inside to keep them from "rattling" on start up while waiting for oil pressure.

The OHC v6's are the same.
The cam in block v8's have the solenoid in the front cover and the actuator is similar.
I don't recall how much advance the v8's have though.
No worries. They're just numbers on an ipl spreadsheet
You teach far faster than any technical school.
