Yep. That was the end for me. It wasn't an expensive unit, couple hundred bucks, so there is that. It was to be my stepping stone.

Thanks Brent. I actually messed up my Echo 490 earlier today. I went way overboard on a muffler mod by drilling a 1/2” hole in the center. It’s crazy loud now, but it has a nice sound to it. I’ll probably replace the muffler because now there’s no backpressure

One 1/2" hole doesn't sound like to much. I put 3/8 holes in those 25cc weed eaters. They all wake up noticeably.

Question....did you take the muffler off and do this drilling or did you do it with the muffler on and then run it?

Wouldn’t it basically eliminate the backpressure because it’s a straight shot out the exhaust port? If that’s not the case, then I’m happy

Does it feel more powerful in the wood after retuning? That's what matters.

Just take self tapping screws and screw a plate over the hole
Just take the side deflector loose and pull the tube
And leave *s-word alone.
