Good stuff

Was millwrighting years ago and there was a fella at the mill that didn't bathe, they called him the elephant man. One hot summer day the stench got so unbearable that the boys went and tied him to a fuel Silo, then commenced to douse him good with an 1-1/4" fire hose to knock the stink off. He washed himself every week after that, so as not to repeat.

Evening All. Having a hard time keeping up with you lately. Hardly any time to check on from the office these days.

Sun put on a nice show on the way up this morning. Stopped and took this one on the way to the office.

you are right Gary. By the time I get to check in lately I’m a 100 or more posts behind. It would be worse if Jason’s son/Dal’s nephew was still posting

With that much lift and so little duration on the intake. I’d be tempted to retard the cam timing 4 degrees and see what it can do wink wink. You can always go back, with those pistons you probably need that retarding a little. You would be pinging unloaded with the vacuum advance and not able to get full timing at peak load. Especially if it’s got a 6 degree advance ground into it like most, “RV” cams. Heheh if those are 10 to 1 pistons and you didn’t retard the cam timing I’d be willing to bet if you pressure checked it after a break in you would be over 190psi. Food for thought shrugs. Of course I could have it all wrong too in my head movies. Lol just fun to talk about options! Smiles wink

I can work on the timing curve in the distributor to help keep the detonation away, and run it a little fat....but I'll likely install the cam straight up. Retarding it moves the power a little higher, and I'll be lugging this thing around pulling a trailer or hauling a load.

Could save some of the bottom end with a variable lift lifter set and keep the let er rip top end, no?

I hate the noise those things make, but they really do work as advertised.

Looking good Randy when will be starting the assembly side of things

Gonna be a couple of days. I built the bottom end of a small block chevy today for my grandson's buddy Blake. He had short block he bought for 100.00 that had new rings, bearings, cam bearings, etc. It had been sitting for years, and needed torn down, and cleaned up proper. It also had dished pistons, and he had a set of flat tops in fair condition. So we did some parts swapping and stuff...

Trying to recreate a old David Mann painting.

David Mann was one of my heroes. My bedroom was decorated with Easyrider centerfolds by him when I was a kid.
