I have actually acted as a bird dog before…a friend came from CA to TX to hunt dove when I lived there and for some reason we didn’t have a dog…so I’d watch for where they fell n pick ‘em up.

Anyone familiar with the Jacksnipe? They're about the size of a green-winged Teal & can turn 180deg. at very high speed. Around here they inhabit some of the same secluded spots as Wood ducks.

My gpa had German shorthairs and hunted pheasants here in the imperial valley. My brother and I used to run and run with the dogs…our pants and shoes would be grass stained from running through the alfalfa.
