I am hoping the new saw is a bit lighter, while maintaining reasonable fluid capacities for its power level. We have a brand new 500i at work and I can't tell if it's real thirsty or the tank is too small for the model?

Regardless, this machine has me excited. As soon as they're available I'll have Randy do one for me

Understood, sir. Wasnt comparing or saying it was a response to the 500i, just hoping it's capacities and economy were appropriate

Cold? Wait til the weekend! First real taste of winter for us in the Northeast. But, I would rather be hanging at home by the woodstove.

My comment wasn't only about what you said, cause the 500i comparison has been mentioned by others. The saws are both quite different as is their intended markets. Really the only thing they have in common is that they are both new at relatively the same time.

Actually I've never milled period.

Adding to my earlier post, I think the Stihl that it would probably be compared to would be the 661, not the 500.

I'd be all over that too but I don't mill. There would be a lot of chainsaw millers that would be upset by this move.

The 394/395 chassis and basic design dates back to 1992 ish. The 390xp was getting long in the tooth as well. It’s time for some change... hopefully for the better. The new saw has a lot to live up to.
