Last I used an ez pour spout it was actually a soak your boots spout because it never sealed properly. The threaded cap didn't match close enough to get enough torque to seal.

The package comes with 2 caps. Maybe the wrong cap was used?
I have EZ Pour spouts on every plastic gas jug I own. No issues at all.

bar oil jugs
flushed out for mix gas put 1/4 inch hose in.
can strap them to my atv
never lost a drop of fuel.
free had them 4 year's now.

I'm going to get one for the last diesel jug I bought. It took 10 minutes to pour 5 gallons on fuel in my tractor. You have to stand on the front tire and hold the jug while it trickles in. The spout on my other jug wouldn't fit it so I had no choice. I'm getting too old to stand on a tire reaching out holding a 40 pound jug of fuel.

i drill a 1/2 inch hole in the safety baffle bastard
spouts i have.
makes life easier.

There is a special EX Pour spout for diesel. Is is twice as big. I empty 5 gallon plastic jug is less than a minute. Fuel flies out...
But you definitely need the vent hole drilled out. I use a rubber valve stem with insides removed.

Make sure you install the little flip top vent cap thing somewhere above the fuel line if you put one on a big jug

If you don't it takes almost as long to glug out as any other spout (maybe longer)

I don't put them on my 1 gallon cans cause I LIKE it to come out slow so I don't overfill
