Wondering if there are any new carbs at reasonable prices that will fit a Homelite 410 and a SuperXL925? Rebuilt both carbs without much success. Next step would be to find someone more intelligent than me to ship them to for rebuild, to see if I missed something. Thanks.

Complete tear down and blew out all passages with compressed air and carb cleaner on both carbs. Neither carb looked that horrible. Both had fuel lines and filters replaced.

925 is just a bear to start, usually get frustrated and stop trying, 170PSI of compression will wear you out after 20 pulls. Fuel will run out of carb. If I spray fuel in carb before trying to start it runs great. Actually started and ran great for a while after rebuild. After letting it sit a few months these problems started.

410 will only fire with fuel sprayed in carb acts like it is not getting any fuel. Impulse line looks ok but has not been replaced.

I am assuming I screwed up the rebuilds one way or the other. I suck at carb work.

Tip #1: Never use compressed air to clean out a carb. It can screw up any check valves that may be built in. The force from a can of carb cleaner or brake cleaner will suffice.

925 was tuned to idle well and 4 stroke a little coming out of cut, don't remember anything to wacky on the settings.

410 is currently set at 1.5 turns out on both needles.

Did you put new kits in the carbs or just clean them out?
The 925 runs a Tillotson HS which is the same as many stihl and Husqvarna saws in that size range.

The carb on that 925 may have a built-in governor. Those carbs are known to go wonky at times.

Modified Mark did a thread on his adventures with one over on Another Site .... it might be worth your while to go dig it up.

That "built in governor" is a flood limiter and it's the big brass screw on the side of the carb opposite the jet screws. It can easily be disabled. If there is no screw then there is no limiter.

New kits were put in both. 925 twice have a third kit on the shelf for it. But apparently I have screwed it up twice and once on the 410 so pretty much ready to give up trying.

What about the boot, does a 410 have one?
We're the diaphragms nice and soft?

The 410 does have a boot, boot appears ok was hoping to get it running and spray around it to test for leaks. Both carbs at tear down appeared ok. The 925 fuel inlet was originally plugged solid with black crap all the way to the little screen.

If the boot is bad on a 410 it will hit once maybe with gas sprayed in carb. I have had several, first thing is to replace boot everyone I have had has been bad. A bad boot will not pull fuel through the carb.

Appreciate all the help and guidance. I tore further into the 410 and the boot was completely broken. Replaced boot adjusted carb and now it starts and runs good, just need a new chain.

Played around with the 925 and stumbled onto that if I hold the throttle wide open while starting it fires right off and runs well. Have to be a contortionist to accomplish it but works. Been noodling up some big sweet gum and sycamore with it. It doesn't clear noodles worth a darn though.
