Morning..
My 16 year old 221QE model 38584 needs it's first carb rebuild bc of a annoying drip. It uses a discontinued B&S 801396 carb which ran good until I removed the bowl which damaged the gasket. I should have lived with the drip which was probably the pilot..
There are plenty of cheap carb clones on amazon, but this snow blower is important to me and NEEDS to run after a snow so I wanted oem. Even though the 38584 is said to be discontinued, I did find the Briggs & Stratton Store on amazon sold new/old 38584's for 150 that I was considering bc Ive read many cheap amazon carbs run lean or surge. I have used cheap amazon carbs with mixed results. I did also find the B&S 38584 carb rebuild kit #801427 available a few places for the same price as a clone carb.. Anyway, what direction would you go if you needed a old carb rebuilt or replaced for your only 2 stroke snowblower? Thanks!
