Greetings all! So, I'm looking at buying a 066/MS-660 to replace the 394xp I recently sold. Big saws are scarce in my area so I'm looking at eBay and such. Anyway, I've found a couple of well used but stock Stihl saws and a couple of new "parts saws" that are supposedly built from mostly OEM parts, not Chinese "saw in a box" saws for the same money. Just curious what y'alls opinions are. Used OEM or new unknown?

Tread with caution and buy from a known reliable person and no one with a last name starting with S and first with a J

Too much dishonesty on Ebay to trust you'll get a good saw that hasn't been hacked by someone .

Good luck with your search , perhaps someone on here will have something or know someone with a good saw .;)

Contact "The Chainsaw Guy" He will not screw you over like Ebay will.He had several larger saws for sale.
Actually, I think the parts saw is one of his. That makes me feel better knowing that someone is vouching for the guy. I've sent a message on eBay but in haven't gotten a reply yet.

A saw from ANY source may or may not be a good deal. I've purchased saws from all sorts of venues but I prefer to purchase saws that I can look at, inspect and run in person. I have purchased running saws on eBay and they were "ok" but not great deals. Never had one misrepresented but sometimes not everything is disclosed...
Probably buying one from a person with a good reputation from one of the forums would be a safe bet. Or just keep looking locally. A wanted ad in your local Craigslist or other buy/sell venue may provide leads. I sell a lot of saws but not "long distance" very often. I like to sell in person as well. Large saws of any brand just don't come on the market as often as the sub 50cc ones. Keep looking.

I hear you. You just can't find big saws around here. I used to go to Seattle twice a year with my job but that was years before I needed a saw. I'd love to go there now, big saws everywhere!

You probably know this but the 066 was made for quite a while and it went through some changes during its life. If ordering parts, make sure you get the right things.
I've got a few Stihl saws but this will be my first 066. The 394xp I sold was that way though.
