Hi
Has anyone worked on a MTU 16v2000 engine? Or know someone who knows there way around those engines?

I have one of them engines on the bench and it needs the cam pulled. I'm not 100% sure what I'm getting into, never done that on an MTU 16v2000.

May be a long shot but hey, ya never know. Doesn't hurt to ask and worst is a no reply. :D

Cheers

It’s been over 20 years since I’ve seen one. Never did anything major to one. Can’t remember if the cam comes out the flywheel end of the engine. I do know there is a hydraulic hand pump needed to remove & install the flange that the flywheel bolts to. Something like 30 tons. The flange is on a taper. Don’t know what’s on the front of the cam or front cover.

I'd known I'll prolly need something to pull the damper off due to the research I've done so far.

I have not found a manual that shows in detail how the cam comes out or the process of doing the work.

Thanks for the reply. And I'll keep digging.
