Been getting a few minutes to play around with the two saws from http://opeforum.com/threads/ms461-r-o-what-else-fits-and-issues.1984/.
The one that had a bad tank, got the tank off the one that was supposedly scuffed up or part-seized, and now it doesn't run worth beans. Starts idles, revs up, but as soon as you apply a load, if sharts and dies.
Seems to have followed with the carb off the poor runner from before the parts swapping started.
Pulled the impulse side off the carb and it was half packed with sawdust. Figured a fuel line, filter and carb kit was a cheap possibility.
On the other side, the engine which was supposed to be part seized, got a new tank/handle assy (local shop, paid retail, about what it would have cost to buy one off ebay, by the time I paid exchange and shipping), and now THAT one runs like a top. Still have not pulled the top end off, but a peer through the ports could not find any sign of any scuffing.
So. When I went to order a carb kit, initially they came up with a Walbro K10-HD, but then they got all twitterpated over that their cross reference was not able to come up with a carb rebuild kit that applied to this particular model, being an Arctic, and all.
They quoted me for a complete carb, or I could pick and choose my way through ordering one part at a time from the parts list, but they said their cross references did not cover the Arctic MS461 or some such.
Anyways, I took the Walbro kit they originally had come up with, K10-HD, but figured a fella should ask. Anyone know if the carb uses anything special, or is it just a screwy cross reference? Mentioned something about the serial numbers (aw heck, had them written down, paper gone), maybe making a difference, or maybe not.
Failing a resurrection from the install of the fuel system parts and some fresh gas (again), I will pull the flywheel and check the key, and other such things, but for now, just wondering if the carb kit is supposed to be different or not.
Thanks!
