Well I am suspecting that the case on my 460 build has developed a leak due to the bearing seat separating from the magnesium.

Anybody have a matched pair of case halves?

Don't rule out just the half you need either if the price is right. I built one from mismatched case halves and they lined up perfect, although some dont..
Which side do you need? I know I have a couple ugly 046 halves, just don't recall which side.

It's the clutch side case half that I need. I just want to be sure that the halves match, like you said.

What is the best way to differentiate 460 vs 046 cases?

Screw caps vs flip caps. Thats the only difference as far as I know.
The ones I have are all stripped so…🤪
The one 044 is easy to tell but I’m not use about the 46s.

I might have an 044 case if you want to find a crank and build a hybrid 🤷

That's what I'm doing here. It's hard to find genuine stihl cases, if you weren't aware. If you know of something that I don't, please let me know.
The 046 and ms460 was and still is a very well used saw here in WA so finding a good used OEM case would be tuff there's nothing wrong with the aftermarket cases I've rebuilt a few ma460s using aftermarket cases the only problem doing so is there's no vin number unless you spend the extra money and buy a new OEM case.

I have 4 different pt#s for cases.
1128 021 0700, 704, 0760 and 0762
What it what?

Is there a thread that shows the subtitle differences between the 1128s?
I only have a 461 so have nothing here to compare 044 vs 046, 460. I’m pretty sure none of what I have is a 441…too new for the pile of carcasses I bought.

There is a thread on "the other site/AS" trading post. Guy has new and used 460 cases.

Not sure if OK to post this here, or links? If not delete the post. Just trying to help.

There's 440 and 460 and yes they are different. I'm sure you know the differences between the two saws??
