How does a guy know which of the calibration/reset procedures is right for his saw after a solenoid replacement?

My manual spoke to the 90 seconds on choke and then immediate shutoff. I guess that’s right? Purchased this saw in 2018 and it has the newer style side cover.

Wend out and made a few long-ish cuts last night. Seems like my issue is resolved, but didn’t have a lot of daylight to prove it out.

The coil determines reset or calibration.

Well, the solenoid didn’t fix my problem. Saw just won’t hold the rpms like it used to. Seems to get a little weaker as it gets warmer. (Coil?)

I’ve got a compression gauge. Should I run it on a warm saw or cold?

140-150 compression warm with throttle held open on half a dozen pulls.

I will take a peek at the piston and cylinder later this evening.

I always test a cold engine. Your comp numbers seem good though.

140-150 on a warm engine should be good, if it’s still not running right I’d go after the fuel line and if you haven’t I’d check the diaphragms in the carb also since the saw is 5 years old or so and they could be stretched. I usually look over the line when changing filters. While I have the filter off I’ll put my finger over the filter side and vac test the line to check for leaks or soft spots that are collapsing and restricting fuel flow.

Just for clarity - saw is about 3 years old, not 5.

I pulled the muffler last night and the piston and cylinder look good. I was about to throw in the towel and take it into the dealer (who is awesome, BTW...old school saw shop).

Called him this morning....he actually suggested changing the air filter before bringing it in. Says they can look just fine and still be plugged up.

When you vac test the fuel line....your plugging the pump into the carb connection side?
