Hi everyone
I finally got an ms150 in the post after thinking I might have been scammed, Ended up in a worst state then I was expecting but hey ho, lesson learnt.

So I have tons of new bits coming and Ray has sorted me on a manual.

How can I tell what year this saw is? apparently was a 2018 but who knows.

Also what is the biggest bar that can be fitted. I have seen a 10 and 12 from Stihl but spotted a 14" the other day and have now just seen a 16" kit on ebay. I am wondering if a 14" is ok and wont cause too much trouble or would it be a big no no?
I will be running a 10" for small work but wondering if I kept a 14" on the van in case I needed to get through something slightly thicker, knowing it would take longer.

Seems like the 12" would be the sweet spot on the 150. The date should be on the grey decal on the handle. Will have D.O.M. and then the date.

Thanks forthat. I will get a 12" setup as spare.
unfortunately the handle brake has been replace by the looks of it so no label.
I have the serial which was on the main body. I have checked over 20 different years and serials from ebay listings but cannot seem to find a pattern to it. Mine starts with serial 182319### My mind is saying it is between 09.2014 and 11.2015 if it goes up in order. Bit of a pain considering they sold it as a 2018. ha ha

At least the first digit indicates your saw was built in Germany.
(I have the Kitchen-Knife bar 10“ on my MS150)

I have owned 5 ms 150's and had basic mods on them. 12" is the sweet spot as mentioned and it is non sensible to put on a 14" or more. That should be left for the 193, 200, 201 top handles. Randy just ported my ms 151, pretty much the same saw, and I just got it back this afternoon and holy schit...it screams compared to any others I have. I kinda started the appreciation of them on forums and lots of the googled opinions on them are mine my employee tells me. Me a while back taking a top out of a big eab killed ash with a 150 years ago. The limbs are hitting on the top of the canopy of the trees below me...huge ash.

Ps....converting to a non homeowner's safety chain (double raker) the saw comes with and the only chain you can buy in the USA for it to a Panther chain we buy from England...makes a giant difference.
