Dolmar PS-6400, built 2001., purchased new and in usage since 2006. - she never let me down, knock on wood!

Prior to her, Sachs-Dolmar 105, built 1985., purchased new and in usage since 1988.
She is currently residing in a bucket. She blew her clutch and chain brake lever bolt tore out. I took her apart to replace the piston ring. Kinda stopped dead in the water while making repairs, even though I technically just have to reassemble her.

Dream team!

I will just say that it is encouraging (for a change) to see stories of very dependable saws from a variety of makers.

Properly caring for a saw or any other piece of machinery makes all the difference. Some can handle abuse and neglect better than others but nothing is going to last long if you dont treat it right. As I have found with my Poulan and 63 year old tractor, even something cheap and/or old can work really well if you take care of it properly.

Very well said and I agree 100%.

First saw I ever owned and the most abused, 076Super. Years ago, $425 out the door.

Got a couple of those and they can be touch and go. One will be a great saw and the next
a vibrating ole goat that just swallowed a box of razor blades. I have a passion for them
111cc saws. Fun to run and have lots of torque.

Stihl 044 magnum 14 years and traded it for a 064 but I keep in touch with the guy who has it now and she still runs strong.

I’d mention my old 1-10. Dad bought it new in 1969 and gave it to me 10 yrs later. It cut all my firewood for 12 seasons and got benched by a 49SP.

Well, it sat under the bench for 22 or so years without being run until CAD kicked in here. A tank of fresh fuel and a few pulls got the noisy show going again.

562xp I bought new in 2012... Almost 7 years is alot of use for a tree service... all its needed is a bunch of rim sprockets...
Same here, I bought my 562 new in 2012 too.
Still my go to saw in my tree service fleet today. Muffler modded and never had any mechanical issues besides a broken spring mount.

Interesting all the different reliable saws. Mine would have to be my 10 year old highly modified 450 Husky. It just starts when I want it to, easy and no fuss. It has a 13,000 rpm limiter on the coil, which may allow it to last a bit longer. It likes to cut at 12,000-12,500 - so the limiter became my 'dull chain indicator'. It thinks it is a 60cc saw and I'm not going to tell it any different.

Amen Mike!

I haven’t had a saw as long as lots of you guys but out of what I have I’d say my most reliable is my 372. Bought it new in 2013 and it hasn’t given me a single problem. Probably because I ditched that damn limited coil and could actually tune it properly. The X-torq topend was just as reliable as the XPW cylinder I have on it now.

My dads little Jonsered 455 has been a great saw. He bought it new in 1987 and it had the original spark plug in it up until last year.

Mine has to be my 371xp as much as I don't want to admit it. Pulled it from a dumpster 15 years ago before my first back surgery to keep me occupied during the down time. Just went down last winter. Torn on weather or not to fix it again. I love the saw so I probably will.
