32" Sugi with 105 DL chain requires no mods to run 7, 8, or 9 pin sprockets

But this is the only bar that has worked that way. I modded a 24" cannon to run a 9 pin so I didn't have to add DL to the chain. I just nipped the bar tail a little is all. Now it mostly wears a 7 pin with the hybrid

Do you think it is just a sugi design?

I will have go compare a sugi to a Stihl bar today then lol

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

Slot is longer, never really compared the tail.

If you put a 7 pin on a Sugi the slot will stick out past the clutch cover.

On a big stihl bar never had to cut for a 9. 10 up yep.

Also use a 24" bar to make one to run a 11 up for 72DL.

Most any bar will work with a 9pin
You have to do a little work for a 10pin
But clearance ain't the only problem, you have to have a wide tail to keep the chain on with a 10pin or cut the bar down till it's wide enough.
Takes a damn sporty saw to be faster with a 10pin than a 9pin.

How bout a 10 pin on a Mac 797? Not sure to go 9 or 10. Been reading a lot and 9 might be best. Going on 36" Oregon sprocket nose 3/8 .063 skip chisel.

Oh my. Great lineup!
I work a full time job and cut firewood on the side. Bigger saws get the job done faster. It's all 20" up to 3' and some bigger. Soft pine dead snags. Drop the rakers and run skip chisel. My 797 is strong as hell, lots of torque. My 075 out cuts it in smaller diameter wood as it should. Faster chain speed. It's got a 3/8 8 pin also. It's got about 5mm less stroke than the 797 with about the same bore. Shorter stroke more revolutions, so probably a 9 or 10 pin on the 797 should put them at about the same chain speed. Not looking to make it a race saw. Just trying to dial it into what I cut most. Big Macs built to pull big bars in big wood. I don't cut stuff that big.
