I haven’t been on here in forever and unless necessary I have messed with a saw in probably two years. I ran into an old parts hook and got this. I think I need the upper av spring, intake boot, impulse, the cable for the flywheel side av and the obvious missing parts.44533125-9910-452A-B435-91CD883CAA78.jpegACFAD0EB-0DFA-4DE9-A852-F3350D51F13E.jpeg51B1CAA2-183D-4AEE-812E-B76D4CABE7D2.jpegC5317AA7-D2A3-447B-B295-766319D0C3FD.jpeg

It’s about $46 here. I’m probably $175 in parts right now and hopefully it’ll run

I'm about the same as you . I've just assembled the bottom end . Can't beat that feeling after re building a saw and hearing it fire for the first time

DANG!
Stihl hates people & charges CRIMINAL prices...
I sold a lot of my stihl stuff off just because of parts prices and stopped buying them but this just fell into place. I’ve been running a 365 Special i built from scrap yard saws. I was buying up all the MS261s around here and trying to build them but between missing covers and rubber parts I’d be buying $150 in parts plus bar and chain to complete a saw that’s worth $300.

661 parts should be ready for pick up on Thursday so I figured I’d dig through the parts pile. This is beat to death but put a plug in it an it fired up. Swapped a flywheel on and a temporary beer can patch. I’m going to try to epoxy the handle then just need to find a cylinder cover that isn’t $80.

Truly hard to believe you obtained and installed all those parts for less than $180 and the saw runs as it should. Congratulations!

I got lucky and Al’s saw shop had the dawgs, clutch cover, and air filter cover for $83 to my door. The new stuff was $93 including the $49 intake boot. If it was for Al’s it would have been a bit more. The picture is what was $93 for a handful. 6E4ACA50-D4CD-4F9B-A57E-B74216B70483.jpeg

This is a 2019 so I’m hoping it’s past the m tronic issues. I’m going to cut with it today if I can find where I put my chains.

Dig a bar out of the scrapyard find pile and it’s ready to cut. $49 for a 3/8 .050 91 dl loop of rsflk right now at the dealer. PS that’s the previous owners moms number.
