I have a Mikuni carb made in Japan from a Kawasaki 5hp engine and I would like to identify it.
Anyone familiar with this model?
Thanks.

Sears shows the ipl for this discontinued model but don't list the model of carb.

Except for the choke arm that is the same model (#715670) used on some Briggs Vanguard.
I just went thru one for a friends generator.

The carb I have is definitely Mikuni and is different from the Briggs but may fit.
I cleaned the Mikuni and reinstalled it but wanted to find the model number so I could order parts for it on-line.
The run cap is also cooked and they don't make that any longer so I have to install another larger capacitor outside the generator.

The model # is on the outer mounting flange but,it is poorly stenciled on and rubs of easily.
Yup, Mikuni on the vanguard I repaired also.
Like I said, different choke arm configuration.
I doubt they made that carb just for Kawasaki.
Several applications use the same basic carb body.

I found no gasket "kit". Have to purchase the bowl to get gaskets. Needle and jets were available separately.

Any idea what this small hole is for ?
Should it be left open in the gasket or can it be covered over?

The mating part is the intake manifold, the gasket kit doesn't show a hole in the gasket but I'm wondering if the cut out is large enough to include the hole in the carb?

Hopefully you got the right gasket. If gasket does cover it you could always drill hole out of gasket.

The original gasket is long gone so I had to make one, that's why I can't remember if the original gasket compensated for the hole in the carb.

I would leave a small hole in gasket if it were me.
