Anyone ever had one of these on their bench? My mom has one and the carb is junk due to ethanol (I know, I know). It has a Zama on it, but I can't find the numbers. Everything online says it is a Zama C1U-K54A. Does anyone know if the aftermarket ones are any count? A new one from two different dealers is around $50.00!

You get what you pay for sometimes. The last Stihl carburetor replacement I brought off Fleabay had the numbers grounded off and I could not even adjust it with the mixture screws. It was a Zama reject carburetor.

I will no longer buy these cheap carburetors as my business rep is worth more than what I save by buying el cheapo carbs.

Btw the Mantis usually sell for around 250-300 usd new so well worth a 50 usd carburetor.

I found a rebuild kit for $7.00 from my local Echo dealer. I may just try that, a new primer bulb, and fuel lines. It is the same as the Echo cultivator. I always suspected it had a Shinny engine on it when she bought it.

I don't know yet, carb is still in the box in my truck. I plan on sticking it on this week. We shall see. I tried the rebuild route and I guess it was one of those "uncleanable" carbs. I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, so I used Pine Sol and soaked for two days. Still couldn't get it to run right. Ordered new carb through a different dealer. It was around $35 out the door.

If it was the ZAMA C1U-K54A there is a little more involve than just throwing rebuilt kit in it. These has an accelerator plunger with o-ring and a second strainer thatr can give problems.

I have already done two Mantis 7225's this year and now got the Echo TC-210 in for minor repairs plus new tines. Also not all these uses the same carb either as the 7225 uses a K82 and Echo uses a K17.

What are the carb settings on these I took one apart and didn't even think about counting.

Should about 1-1/2 each for starters then fine tune afterwards.

I pulled one of these out of the dumpster at work. Ran for a little on 3/4 choke. Took the carb apart and ran some guitar string through some of the fine holes 'technical term for non educated folks like me' and now it runs like a top. Been using it regularly for almost 3 years
