I picked up this saw at a local flea market for $30. I disassembled it, cleaned everything, bought a few parts (Thanks @Mastermind) and put her back together. Saw is good to go just haven't put her in wood yet.

The only issue I am experiencing is the air filter doesn't "click" or "snap" into place. There is a metal wire piece that should keep it in place but it's just to loose that once you start the saw it just vibrates all around and does not keep the air filter tight to the base.

Does any have any experience with this issue? Is it the filter? Is it the filter base? This is the first bigger Dolmar/Makita I have worked on.

Thank you.

I looked at this last night. Honestly the air filter metal piece does not look bent. Also it is very rigid so I am not seeing how it could be bent. Also the ears on the air filter base do not look worn.

I'm not home for 6 hours or so but I have a stock filtered 7301 in easy reach there.
What pics do you want to get you moving forwards mate?

Wouldn't it be smart to just pick up a new air filter? If it's not the problem then you will have a spare for when the other gets dirty

Do you have any pics, or a short video, you could upload? I can't say I've had any problems with any of mine, in that way, even the beat up ones, so a visual could be helpful.
