Makita 6100. Boggs in mid range?

So I have this 6100 that starts great, idles great, runs in the cut great, but from idle to full throttle it has a lean hesitation. Both high and low needles can adjust over lean and flood the engine as well. I can tune out the hesitation. Is there a quick fix common to these reed strato saws? I am not familiar with them as this is my first one.

Steve, you might try a simple fix that sometimes works for me. Just open the low-speed setscrew up a quarter turn (CCW) or so. Idle screw may have to go up a twinge (CW). It's worth a try.

Shoot, forgot to post what was up with it!

Got the saw used and the air filter and fuel filter where letting stuff through. Strato reed was hung open with debris and the screen in the carb was almost clogged with debris. Cleaned all the crap out and it runs like a top. New filters on the way!

The intake is textured. Strato boot is smooth.

Is that the little "strainer" as Stihl calls it? If so, those puppies cause more problems than perhaps they solve. I cleaned one out last week in my Husky 353 that was packed tight with goop. It had even worse problems than you described here. Eventually it refused to start and run.
