Like Kevin said, if it ain't the solenoid, it's the coil. But the wiring harness is occasionally mucked up. Once I had a 661 that the trigger unit on the side of the carb was bad.
A bum flywheel can make it go haywire too, but this is fairly a rare occurrence I believe. I've only seen it once.

my thought also,, i have changed the solenoid on the one and no change,,
Did you do fuel filter and or the line or at least vac test the line to check for pin holes? Could be many things including an air leak if not pressure and vac testing. Just ideas, so far all the mtronics I’ve dealt with have been very reliable overall.

Filter changed,, didnt do the rest.
These are my winter projects,,
