Hey guys , a little backstory :
I have had this Ryobi SS30 trimmer forever.
It has served me well and I'd like to keep using it .
The problem I'm having is finding an OE carburetor for it . I have tried at least 4 carbs that the internet has claimed is an exact replacement for the stocker and I'm just not happy with the performance.
I will add more information tonight after work.
Model #
Compression test #'s
etc...
I guess I should also add that I'm not opposed to purchasing a new one but it's difficult to find one that's at least 30ccs' and will accept the (Expand-it) attachments I already own.
Thanks.

I have one or two Ryobi machines in my OPE junkyard, yours for cost of shipping. Pretty sure they take attachments. Let me know if you are interested.

Thank you but I have never shipped anything before .

I would be shipping them to you, all you would have to do is pay me for the shipping cost. I should be able to look for the weedeaters this weekend, will let you know.

I'm really just interested In having the correct carb so I can rebuild it but shipping the whole power head (minus the detachable part) would be fine too !
Thanks a bunch !

I have another question.
I (think I) have sorted out the carburetor problem but do you guys oil the (single piece ) foam filter element ?
I'm asking because I used the foam air filter tacky oil I use for my wheelers pre filter (Maxxima Fab 1 ) and it ran terrible.
I cleaned and put filter back in dry and it runs great.
Should I just use regular 30 wt or leave it dry ?

In general, you don't oil an air filter unless the manufacturer says to do so. I've never seen a weed eater, blower, or chainsaw that called for the air filter to be oiled. Many Briggs 4 stroke engines do however.

Just wanted to follow through on this .
All seems good . High and low speed adjustment needles are in the proper places .
Trimmer runs fantastic.

Glad to hear it. I have an old Poulan that I need to get running again. Yes it's a worthless high miles homeowner grade machine, but I spent many hours using it on my grandma's farm and I love it for that reason!
