Looking for one. I have lots of parts and saws to trade. Will have a freshly rebuilt 2171 to trade soon, as well as an 041 super. Of course my JD saws and white top 61 are available for trade as well. I just want one of those Lewis winches!

Nice. Still looking for one
Hit me up when u find one. Start out with vigilance and ah heavy dose of distrust and fear in the fkn things. I could write a book on all the ways these pieces of Lewis sht could kill you and all the flaws of the design. They're a necessary evil, and there's no replacement.

Those capstan rope pullers are useless when conditions are wet.Lewis is the only way.

Dont exceed 70 cc, its yer buffer of safety against that pathetic/thin cable. First ran mine on an ms 660, too much.

Upsize yer chokers, so when sht snaps (and it will), the heavy hardware stays with the log or snag, rather than picking a shackle out of your skull.

A 3/8" 6 ft and 10 ft will cover the majority of trees:

I was pulling a big fir log onto a trailer,, sheared the pins on the drum,, not fun to fix..
Does it have a lock-mechanism that holds the drum/line when the pin breaks, or does the line go free?

Goes free. I think you can still use the brake.
Was a lewis on facebook market this AM,,$350 cad.
Gone in less than an hour, looked well used.
Too far for me to go,, 2.5 hr drive
