Just wondering what you guys use to hold the rubber manifold onto the cylinder? Can I reuse the wire that was on it, buy a new oem wire or will stainless steel wire work fine ? I wish there was a clamp to use instead of the wire but it’s lasted 24 years with the wire.
Thanks

I’ve had one with the wire and reused it a few times and also one with a clamp. I’m not sure if the clamp was made for it though or if was from another model. I think you’re fine using the used wire. It’s pretty stiff and easy to tie it back up with a pair of pliers

Thanks Kevin, One more question, whats the minimum squish you’d go with ? I have .016 up to .021 without the base gasket. Should I put a gasket back on it ?

You have to be careful with these as I think they are a little bit tighter right out on the very outside edge where it’s hard to get an accurate squish measurement. If it was at least .016 and it got bigger from there, I’d probably be OK with that. But make certain it isn’t tighter right on the very edge

I checked the squish 2 more times and placed the solder in different spots and ended up with .013 on the edge of one. It definitely gets thinner on the outer edge. I’ll either make a gasket with something thinner or just use a regular gasket.
Thanks again

Thanks for the help guys. Timg I’ll give the wire a shot first and if I feel it’s not sealing right I’ll message you. How much you need for the clamp if I need it ?

It would be reasonable. I might suggest a light touch of sealant and set overnight. PT next day as leak area for sure. GL.
