I have no idea on that. Maybe we could get the resident expert to share some knowledge? @heimannmDo parts readily interchange between the ProMac55 and 555? I know it followed the 55 immediately.
Mark, was the 555 what morphed into the 10-10S?The PM555 were transitional saws, early models were points and later models were electronic. A 12- prefix on the serial number should indicate a later model with electronic ignition but keep in mind many parts were interchangeable.

Who knows for sure what McCulloch was doing...the PM55, 555, 570, and 10-10S were all 57cc models with the same bore & stroke but there were porting differences, different pistons, and different ignitions. Early models had round exhaust ports and no pinned rings, later models like the 10-10S were strictly pinned and seemed to be the best performers. That said, I have a PM55 with a fresh piston and cylinder, points ignition, and that saw is a ripper.
