Is this an American Chestnut?

Neighbors had their woods logged recently. This tree was all marked up with "Do Not Cut" in fluorescent orange & green paint.

I would need a photo of twigs and buds without the leaves.

Trees are left for a variety of reasons..
Wildlife habitat, seed stock being a couple of possibilities

Oh btw.
There should probably be nuts or fragments around the base of the tree.

After looking this over again it almost looks like a elm? Hard to tell from the pictures. Bet if I saw it in person I could probably tell.

It looks like a chesnut the bark seems too turn as it goes up the trunk

Our sweet chesnut is similar the bark is red underneath the outer skin

this is how I found one. They are rare around here.
Yours looks like elm bark.

This time of year there should be loads of leaves around the base. One of the easiest ways to tell what tree it is.

Elm, in pa I have never seen a chestnut that hasn't been hit with blight 2 to 3 years after it started to produce, only the crosses survive. Most of those are around houses
