@Cobby08 @big t double @TJ the Chainsaw Mechanic Do any if you have any insight on availability in the U.S.A yet?
I ask my rep whenever I see him. Been asking since the pics surfaced a year or so ago...always the same answer. Stihl ain't telling him nothing so he don't know. I don't push the issue to hard though...it's like that with every new product. At least in my area with the reps I've dealt with. I just wait...it'll be here when it gets here. But when it does I will definitely bug them to let me demo it for a week or two.

I had talked with JD at tech service awhile ago and the best he could say was Soon.

I just hope it wakes up the same as other saws, or it's a yawn!

Never saw a piston as funky as that.

The 461 I repaired (for a local tree guy) had a chunk out of the bottom of the piston that I think was heat related, but the cylinder was OK, was able to clean it up and re use it. I vented the muffler real well, removed the carb limiters, and the saw is still running (in professional use).
That piston is the design of the 241. The strato timing can be adjusted on the piston window top edge instead of in the cylinder

Has anyone put one on a scale yet? Curious how honest the factory specs are.

And the most important question, where are you in Germany? If you're not too far from me we could try some saws and share some beers!

South-west, Saarland, Oberthal ;) A small german-french beer and chainsaw GTG would be awesome! :beer-toast1: You are always welcome Guillaume ;)

Here's a quick comparison between the 462, a new ported 461 and bone stock 562xp with good runtime on it.

it feels like the 462 is still adjusting in the cut, i think will repeat it with a proper charpend chain after another tank of fuel.
The 461 needs a finer tune.

One thing is clear, with slightly lower weight the 462 is crushing the 562 in terms of power per pound! It's a game changer

Thank you sir for your time. Do you have any bigger wood and bigger bars?
