I don't buy much, but I am always curious to what things costs vs what I very recently purchased.

Very recent purchases:
Dewalt Auto retracting hose reel -- $127 is now $147
Dewalt Air Compressor -- $718 is now $799
Low profile drill press vise -- $20+change is now $29.99
Cutting fluid for drill bits -- $4.97 is now $7.58
plenty more examples...

What is going on? I thought inflation was now back under control. Seems like prices got Turbo Charged.

Things are very good here in the red state of Florida, it's possible your blue state gov't caused the increases.

Really? Most of those are internet purchases. Are you suggesting that my Homedepot and Amazon prices show up differently in my state vs. Florida?

Tell me if this rings true.

What's your price in Florida?

Pricing can very much be affected by location, even fir online purchases, maybe not so much on amazon, but homedepot and the like ask for your local store for a reason, even when shopping onlime... different regions have different pricing

That said, amazon has the tap magic at the same price, however i am currently stuck in the commie state of NY....

I doubt this internet pricing is state to state, at least in the Continental USA for the BIG retailers. Alaska, Hawaii, yes prices might factor in (hide) some additional shipping cost. For a bottle of cutting fluid, in Idaho, really??? BTW it shipped from Spokane Wash. They could have tossed it as easily as drove it to my doorstep.

BTW, does this cutting fluid do anything more then say 3-in-1 oil? I bought this mostly out of curiosity. If it can save me from buying drill bits on a regular basis, its value is golden.

I use 3-in-1 for everything.

It's known that internet pricing, especially for Amazon and other big retailers' websites, are varied based on things like the user's device's operating system (if using an Apple device the prices are often a bit higher- perceived demographics), city, county, state, etc.

It's also known that Blue states often have higher average prices because the blue state govts spend like crazy and waste a tremendous amount of tax dollars.

Pretty much my goto oil for most all things. I'll be curious to see if this cutting fluid does anything more or is just the same repackaged.
It smells better if I remember correctly. Mint comes to mind. Let us know when you try it. I last used it around 1994.

Best thing to save from buying drills is investing in a drill doctor.... i got one this year and love it... used to hand sharpen bits on a grinder, but the consistency and repeatability of the drill doctor is great....

Those things pay for themselves the first day of use if you have a jobber set.

I've used one a fair amount and they do work pretty well. I like how you can split the tips with them--that's definitely something you can't do on a belt sander.

Tap Magic used to have 2 formulations, one for steel and another for non-ferrous metals such as aluminum. The nanotechnology today must cover all. Indeed an excellent cutting fluid and was always more expensive than the run-of-the mill cutting oils at the machine shop.

That's been my experience. Same store different state same price.
