I was the highest bidder for this little gem at 470$ on Ebay. Seller says it's an 066 but it doesn't look like ones I've seen before. I know its ugly I'm going to build it anyway (it's just parts really.) Any help would be appreciated ,thanks fellas.

Are you pretty sure About that? If so is it a poor choice to purchase it?

It's an 064 chassis for sure - the non-clear tank, narrow starter, standard top cover, and non-HD filter cover are dead give-a ways.

You might get lucky and find that someone grafted an 066 top end onto it - but even if it's the 064 top end, if it's in good shape, they're great runners.

The 064 was one of Stihl's best.

I might put a 066 head on it if It doesn't already have one

Are there any clearance issues when placing an 066 head on an 064? Or any special tricks I should know about before making this journey? Say if I were to buy a meteor piston and cylinder kit would it be pretty straightforward?

The bolt spacing on the cylinder base is different between the 064 and 066. You'd have to slot the mounting holes on an 066 cylinder inward diagonally in order to mount it
on an 064 case. I would wait until you get the saw and see what you have first.
