if your going to play you might as well play with one of the most popular models...590/620 or 490(500P but cheaper)

The plastics are different on the craftsman but the aluminum case av mounts and controls are like every Chinese saw I've seen the last several years.

Several guys told me that this dang thing would beat the pants off a Stihl MS390. It's not sold there anymore and nobody seems to know whatever happened to it.

Yes, Poulan is the OEM and they stopped selling it, like many other dumb decisions that they made.

What do them little fellers sell for new?

490 $349= $300 plus shipping
590 $389=$320 plus ship
620 $659= i have one that has at most 6 tanks of fuel through it, has a total super 20" bar on it, bar adapter, and its the 620PW(3/4 wrap list is $679)= make me a reasonable offer on it...been asking $600 and no takers
590 and 600 are mostly identical on the inside so for just an experiment i would stick to the 590.
590 and 620 are different animals, cylinders are different, carb is bigger on the 620, and coil is different. for porting i dont know if it would matter which cylinder you start out with but the larger carb is $70 IIRC
might talk to @rattler about the cylinders. he has done a couple of them i think
