I recently had my 460 ported by a forum member and it runs like never before. I absolutely LOVE it. Spent some money on the build, even added a $200 Cannon super light bar. This saw has always been my baby.

Bought an 036 Pro to fill a vacant slot in my saw lineup and ported it myself. My first port job. It runs like a fool. I absolutely LOVE it too.

My 58 year old achy knees, stiff back and arthritic shoulder have me grabbing the 036 when I want to play with a saw and leaving the 460 at home.

The 036 is just so much easier to throw around and burn a few tanks of fuel through.

I bet there are a bunch of you that can relate.

I can relate, but daggum, when I have a big enough log the ported 394 rips so fast down through it I'd not want to wait for the smaller cc saw. I'm only 47 though. :icon_cafe:

I'm only 46, but my stupid hands cramp up so easy these days. As long as I dont have to hold the saw up and manuever a lot for limbing, I'll grab either the 7-10A or the PM700 for falling or something I want bucked quickly. The higher torque saws are so much better for notching and setting the hinge. Better control for my style. Got a Husky 350 with a 353 Meteor flat top piston and base gasket delete that is starting to become my friend for smaller bucking. Plenty quick, and not too heavy. Still like the Homie Super 2 or Poulan S25DA for limbing.
Pro Mac 1010S is still the one saw I would take if I could only take one saw. Not too heavy, and punches way above its weight class in torque.

A well done 036 is truly a one saw plan for wood 28” and under. I’m 52 and not surprised by your findings.

An ported 036 has the best size/weight/power of any saw IMHO. A bit heavier, but the same size as an MS261CM.

I am currently at, for my normal cutting:

MS261CM 16”
036 20”
MS462 25”
Mopar 395 36”

Get a ported MS261CM next. You’ll have another saw you’ll grab first for the smaller stuff. That or a ported 026-but the MT just makes a 261 so easy.

Well. I have a really nice 026, it's probably next for porting.
I'm not saying my 036 is well done, it was my first port job and I did not polish the transfer ports.
It does run a heck of a lot better than before my work though.

It's kind of nice to have an assortment of sizes .It doesn't make much sense to use an 80 cc saw to cut 6" sapling pecker poles nor a 40 cc saw to cut a 2 foot oaks .

Agreed
I have an 021 converted to 025
026 Pro (stock)
036 Pro (self-modded)
460 (professionally modded)

I think I have a nice smattering of saws to cover the cc ranges

That should get-er-done I would say .That said a 460 is a nice saw. I've ran a few and like them but don't own one myself .Hard to determine what might come available as I might own one someday .I've found out when you least expect it there it is .

The 026 will gain quite a bit just from a simple muff mod. Or at least mine seemed to.

Damn, I must be lucky as I'm 56 and still grab my 372 with 28" or 36" lightweight to do most jobs. I've got some serious medical, can't move them much, leg issues and a bad back (spinal stenosis) but hate the short bar 50cc saws. If I need small saws I prefer a 200t or battery saw. The last couple of years hasn't seen me use the big saws for more than a gtg. Don't get me wrong as far as big wood opportunity, my spirit says hell yes, my body says absolutely not and wins out.

Saws you do yourself>saws you have others do, regardless of how they run, at least in my experience.

I still reach for the 361 more times than not or her sisters, 362, 362C. The AV is more important to me than weight now days. No spiders in any of them. No need.

Docs plan is close to mine but starting with my 200T sometimes and then the the MS36x or just move to the MS 90cc class.
No 4 or 5 series :-) in my current lineup. 64xx and 84xx Dolkitas are finding a home in there somewhere.

The threes is where it's at. If I need more than a twenty inch bar or started the day with a twenty four to save my bad back... it's right to the 84xx or the 6 series in 28" 050. After that it's all pain with the 42+ bars. I do have a 32" Sugi lite on one 66 for killing biguns.

Looks like the 241 is next to get rid of the rest under 60cc. My 260 does little but basket or bucket. Maybe trade that in for a 346.
