Great work. Between the cost difference and the availability to order them to have on hand, this is useful information. Thank you!

Just did a quick vid on husky o ring substitutions.

Buying these things singly drives me crazy. So I measured some and sure enough... they are standard rings :)

Got a link for the o-rings?
I'm at work no watchy vids

Yikes! Playback error!

I'd also point out that tractor dealerships (think 1K acre farms here) have LOTS of o-rings used for hydraulic repairs.

Edit: Playback now working.

Any chance of getting any info on size, supply, etc without having to watch a video?
I second this.
Though it is a quick video by Matty standards, lol...

Condensed version;
Go to around 1 min 33 sec for 288 o ring specs
272 3:10
262 3:42
x ring 4:34

Instead of gratuity here, I'm getting whining that I'm not feeding you guys in the way you like to be fed.

Seems kinda rude to me

and btw, there's reason to watch the vid more than just the specs

That said... here ya go:

262xp:

oem #740482702

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Metric-Bun...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

1.78mm x 34.65mm ID

61/266/268/272xp:

oem #740422100

https://www.mcmaster.com/9262K668

1.6mm x 29.1mm ID

181/281/288:

oem #740422400

https://www.mcmaster.com/9262K592

1.6mm x 37.1mm

XRING (272/288/394 etc):

501288501

https://www.mcmaster.com/90025K123

1/16 x 1/8 x 1/4

as a bonus, I measured the 372xp o ring that goes on the PTO bushing. its about .025" x .590" ID ... somewhere in there. I can't seem to find an o ring that is that thin stocked anywhere ... anyone more info in this direction?

as a question, the material I ordered was BUNA N ... nitrile o rings. if this is wrong material for these o rings let me know. I can't imagine it is anything else, but if someone has more info here that'd be great.

I used hylomar blue on the crank in place of the oring? Do you see any issues with that?

I've heard of guys using all kind of stuff here. At this point I prefer having the oem o ring, but I've heard everything on this from using nothing, to using grease, loctite, threebond ... etc. it doesn't take much to seal it up, the oem o ring makes most sense to me because its easily dismantled later :)

For really no reason other than my Husky dealer can get them easily and doesn’t charge me freight, I use them for 371/372s. I’ve only been into two of this series and I used the oem o-ring and grease.
I’ve been into a ton of 1128 044/440 Stihls and haven’t used them. I’ve just used grease and proper clutch torque; no signs of air leaks and they’re easy to tune.
I don’t know what’s right here but I know my saws are cutting wood.

angelo ... I don't know if stihl shows an o ring for that application, i've never seen one on an ipl

for the old guys who are impatient, ... but also know more than me about o ring materials, is there anything wrong with BUNA N material in this case?

i'd prefer viton I think, due to better gas resistance, but I can't find it in as many sizes as Buna N ...

also not sure what the oem material is, though if I had to guess I'd say Buna N or similar
