never heard that one... I have a blown one in my "to do" pile to check now.
the question is how to you correct that piston pin issue( long term) if you are getting it with OEM ?

Should we start a check list of issues to review before we buy a used 562 ?

EL 46 carby bog issue
Hot restart issue

feel free to add yours to the list:

edit...mine has a distinct line down the middle of the cyl. looks faint as in just slightly "loose" pin....

Not sure if this count for 562/560 since I have not study their service bulletin, but it count for 545/550, "silicone for sealing cylinder with crankcase # 503 26 72 01", due uneven crankcase halfs.

560 has different bearings compared to 562 if I understood the IPL correct, and I belive the bearings has been updated the last 2 years, at least they have updated on 545/550 so I would think it has been done to 562 since they share the same bearings as 550 has, happen on 550 from 2015 week 54.

560:
Flywheel side: 505 13 35 03
PTO side: 525 43 42 03

562:
Flywheel side: 505 13 35 02
PTO side: 525 43 42 02

All big brands can make a reliable heavy bulky saw who can go through a war and still last, but to make a slim lightweight saw with lots of power is something else.

If 562 has gone through the same updates as 550 I would say late 2015 or 2016 is the model to get.

I spoked with a mechanicer last week, their sale volume is slightly over 50% 550 XPG a year, people who knows me know that I always love to get a toasted 550/560 xpg, I was a bit dissapointed that they rarely get any in.

Friend of mine has spent a lot of time analyzing 562 short falls and fixes for them, maybe he'll chime in @weimedog

if I remember correctly we ran a pre-production one with @Spike60 at a GTG way back in '09. damn thing was very impressive at that time....still is, but these nagging bruises keep showing up....

The crankcase screw issue dates from the 2011 models, where the screws were finished with a gloss black instead of flat black and would back themselves out. When I rebuild my 562s, I use Stihl Torx case screws that have the teeth on the underside of the head which solves that problem. I've not heard of the transfer port cover leak issue but the issue with the ring locating pin coming out seems to be primarily coming from the 2013 models. I've had three of those pass through my hands. If you've gotten an earlier or later model then it's likely not an issue. If you have a 2013 model and the pin hasn't come loose yet, then it's likely not going to. The locating pin seems to come loose within the first 75-100 hours of the saw's service life though most seem to fail within 50 hours. One of the three I had was at 38 hours and the other two were just shy of 80 hours.
