Figured it was time to get one of my 395s done up.
Stock numbers looked pretty good. Looks like after machine work the intake will be just right.
Going for long bar torque on this setup. I wish there was a little more meat in the exhaust area as I feel its a little small for 95cc saw. Opened up as much as I felt comfy with.
Thinking about stepping the transfers. 20* on the primary pretty flat so as to sweep the piston and 23* on the secondary angled up a little.
Anyone try this before? I can always square it up later if it doesn't seem right.
Any larger carbs that drop right in with out to much work?
Thanks

Always used the ones it came with either the Tillitson or Walbro performed fine as I saw it as they can be quite the monsters as is.
I've used the RWJ-4 on a 395 before but I'm not sure I got much of a performance gain over the HS-298a.
Agreed. Did the same when that was all that became available for a replacement.

I usually put the transfers at 123° duration on the primary (exhaust side), 122° on the secondary and I keep the entry angle pretty flat.

Yes, after 0.040" out of the squish I usually don't touch the opening of the intake.

Depending on the angle of the primaries, that should work well. This is how a lot of Echo cylinders are from new.

So it’s either snakes, snappers, or frost? No matter where we go somebody’s gonna get bit 😂

I was thinking Jake was in Canada over by me. Didn’t figure there was any way he was getting nice weather after what we just went through. I see now he’s in Washington
