I'm building a 288 with a 181 thin ring topend out of three parts 288's and one 181 top end.

It's almost complete, I prime started it today. I'm waiting on two rubber AV mounts for the tank.

I went to my dealer Monday to order the mounts and an OEM fuel line. The Stihler told me that I should use FS80 fuel line grommets and hooskie 372 curly line. He was right! $1 for the grommet, $1 for the Chinese curly line and 50 cents for the Chinese fuel filter.... and I can change the Curly anytime, plus the curly and filter reach all the corners of the fuel tank.

Soo I'm building flipper Stihls. I had a greasy, nasty, old oh26 from Geniuses shop.

It was an early one with the small fuel tank hole for the old style NLA fuel line. The fuel line was wicked witch melted in the tank.

I had a new style Cross fuel line and I could have reamed out the hole to fit, but a fs80 grommet fit. The grommet plus an Echo fuel line- GTG.....

It's a runner. My friend Adam in MN is gonna build me a fresh jug for it with a removable head to give it a little more pop.... He builds a mean hooskie! I bought an ebay lot with a 281 jug that has busted top fins that would make a nice racing cylinder, if he ever ships it.

I picked two more 181 thin rings up in the UP, one is scored but complete and the other is a runner, then I traded Adam, Toad, for another. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with them yet. Maybe restore one with brian's guidance.

Are the things rings a single ring? The replacement from husqvarna is a two ring and redone ring configuration? Thanks are you running which filter for your 181s?

Where's Bill?
I'm not heah much buddy. How are ya? Shoot me a call or a text.
I love my two thin ring 181's, they won't be leaving me anytime soon!......:)
Sorry, I missed your question. I like the thin ring 181's too. The 288/181 is about to get woods ported but there's another pair and a donor saw here....

Just fyi husqvarna trimmers have a similar bushing that also works, be sure to ream it out or they WILL pinch.

I had the bright idea to fab up a fuel line for my 2100 Husky. Fiddley farted around to find something to fit the fuel line and the hole .Caught that SOB on fire ,no harm, bought an after market molded fuel line .Pizz on that appalachian engineering .Laugh, catch one on fire you'll think differently ,trust me .

The new 288 fuel tanks are drilled for the pig tails, so you can use the grommet on the old style, husqvarna has used these on a few models of saws and trimmersion in the past, I want to say 394 possibly, but I can't remember for sure.
