Does anyone know what the difference is between part #s 587 32 95-01 and 587 32 96-01? I find them both used with the same flywheel and crankshafts on different year models of 268 saws, but they don't seem to cross reference or supercede up to the same part #s. I have a 1989 300th edition 268 that calls for the95-01 coil, but I have a 96-01 in stock and I find on later model 268 with same flywheel and crank it is used. Can't seem to find any reason that either one would work other than maybe some internal timing difference. There is at least one service bulletin about ignitions on these saws that might give a clue, but I'm not a Husq. saw dealer and I can't access the service info, just the parts breakdowns. Thanks if someone can provide info on this.

I think you may have answered your own question. I do know that different saws have the identical looking coil all with different part numbers for the different timing profiles they provide. I would suspect that this would be the case, likely between a 268 and a 268xp. This of course is all conjecture on my part from experience, I cannot recall having seen a bulletin from Husqvarna on the matter.
